Custom Design Specialist

Shelter is looking for a part-time Custom Design Specialist to join our team at our Union Market storefront. This role blends creative collaboration, client education, and high-touch service, supporting clients through some of the most personal purchases of their lives, from custom engagement rings and wedding bands to heirloom redesigns.

If you love the craft behind custom jewelry, deep client conversations, and the satisfaction of helping someone create a piece they'll wear forever, this role is for you!

You are a great fit if you:

  • Are energized by creative collaboration and meaningful client relationships
  • Have a warm, patient approach to guiding people through big, personal decisions
  • Are highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at different stages
  • Bring a genuine curiosity about jewelry design, materials, and craft
  • Thrive in a small, close-knit team environment where everyone's contribution matters

What you'll do:

  • Lead custom design consultations for engagement rings, wedding bands, and heirloom redesigns
  • Guide clients from initial concept through production, delivery, and follow-up
  • Collaborate with our CAD designer and production partners to bring each vision to life
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients throughout the design process
  • Keep project notes, timelines, and follow-ups organized and up to date
  • Contribute to a custom experience that feels calm, joyful, and truly personal

What you bring:

  • Retail or customer service experience
  • Strong communication skills and a naturally empathetic, client-first approach
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple active projects
  • A sense of personal accountability and genuine care for the work
  • Fine jewelry or luxury sales experience is a plus, but we'll train the right person
  • Preference to experience using Asana + Slack

Schedule:

  • Part-time, 15–20 hours per week
  • At least one weekend day required
