Before and After: A Simple Diamond Necklace Into a Statement Making Ring for Allison

We believe gemstones are meant to be worn and, when a piece sits neglected in the back of a jewelry box, it's time to reevaluate why you aren't reaching for it.

This is exactly what Allison did with a simple bezel set diamond necklace that sat unworn in her collection. The white gold pendant was perfect for someone whose tastes lean more towards minimalism, but that's not the dream that Allison had for the diamond. She imagined a fun statement ring that she could wear as easily for a night out as she could around town on a daily basis.

Allison came to us for a custom reset with the round diamond as a starting point. She knew it would be just part of her vision, and we helped bring the rest to life.

To give the diamond more impact, we made it part of a moi et toi setting. A dramatic salt and pepper diamond in a geometric, asymmetrical shape is the perfect pairing for the demure diamond. Together, the two make a striking impact in yellow gold — and this forgotten diamond finally has its moment to shine.

About Our Heirloom Redesign Services

We consider heirloom redesigns to be our bread + butter, and we love working with clients to recreate their previously well-loved jewelry into something new and special. By re-working your old pieces, we can maintain the sentimental value that inherently lies in stones + metal, and produce something that will become a favorite piece for years to come.

Some examples of projects we've done are:

  • Take apart an old diamond engagement ring and using the stone in a new setting
  • Create a solitaire pendant necklace out of an old stone
  • Reset uniform matching stones into a tennis bracelet
  • Combine gemstones from various pieces into a cluster style ring or necklace
  • Remove diamonds from an old band and create new diamond studs

We work with precious stones like diamond, ruby and sapphire, and handle semi-precious stones on a case by case basis. We do not work with heirloom emeralds, pearls, opals, or tanzanite.
