Before & After: Earrings Turned Ring For Abby
Abby approached us with a pair of clip-on earrings that had long been relegated to the back of her jewelry box. Despite their exquisite craftsmanship and sparkling diamonds, they weren't a practical wear for her day to day life.
Abby was searching for a piece she could wear daily, we envisioned a delicate yet impactful stacking ring that would showcase these diamonds and play well with other rings in her collection. We arranged the stones in a wave-like pattern, and set them in yellow gold.
About Our Heirloom Redesign Services
We consider heirloom redesigns to be our bread + butter, and we love working with clients to recreate their previously well-loved jewelry into something new and special. By re-working your old pieces, we can maintain the sentimental value that inherently lies in stones + metal, and produce something that will become a favorite piece for years to come.
Some examples of projects we've done are:
- Take apart an old diamond engagement ring and using the stone in a new setting
- Create a solitaire pendant necklace out of an old stone
- Reset uniform matching stones into a tennis bracelet
- Combine gemstones from various pieces into a cluster style ring or necklace
- Remove diamonds from an old band and create new diamond studs
We work with precious stones like diamond, ruby and sapphire, and handle semi-precious stones on a case by case basis. We do not work with heirloom emeralds, pearls, opals, or tanzanite.

Frequently Asked Questions
For the most part, the process is the same as our custom design process. The one difference is that we ask to view your heirloom pieces in-person to examine the stones before moving forward.
We try our best to work with as many stones as possible! Diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and more are all fair game so long as they are in useable condition. We donotwork with customer-provided pearls, opals, emeralds, turquoise, tourmaline or tanzanite.
We can! We present two options for you - we can either recycle old metal/settings and provide a credit toward the cost of your piece, or use the metal in your new piece. If the metal holds sentimental value we recommend melting it into the new piece, however please note there is an additional cost associated with this.
Of course! We are happy to source additional gemstones for you to use in addition to the heirloom stones that you have.
